Course Description
Prerequisite: FMD 101 and FMD 210 with grade of C or better. Examination of product development through core concepts, trends, color, and elements of design. 3(3-0) S

Style/Mode of Teaching: Lecture presentations, audio-visual materials, demonstrations, written assignments and studio activities.
Course Objective
After successful completion of this course a student should be able to do the following:

Application of art principles (e.g.,color, line, balance, proportion, and silhouette/form), first, to fashion apparel and accessories products and, second, to consumer selection

Analysis of apparel and body types

Development of a fashion trend analysis for an upcoming season

Research on an approved existing manufacturing company that sells to an array of retailers and its market niche and target market

Development of a collection and related marketing tools for an upcoming season for an existing company to include identifiation of the company’s mission, target market, price range, image, brand, competition, etc.
